Tea Service at Your Event: The Underrated Crowd-Pleaser
When you start planning drinks for your event, you probably think cocktails, beer, wine, maybe coffee. Tea is the forgotten fifth option, and it deserves a spot at your celebration.
Done right, tea service adds a layer of elegance and inclusivity that no other drink quite matches. It is naturally zero-proof, endlessly customizable, served hot or cold, and it suits every kind of gathering from a bridal shower to a company retreat.
Why Tea Works So Well for Your Guests
- Everyone can enjoy it: tea drinkers come from every age group, dietary need, and background, so it leaves no one out.
- It fits any time of day: morning brunch, an afternoon garden party, or a late-night wind-down, tea works in every window.
- It feels special without costing a fortune: a premium loose-leaf tea service costs a fraction of a cocktail program and still looks sophisticated on your table.
- It is a photo moment: clear glass teapots, blooming flower teas, and colorful iced tea flights look wonderful in your event photos.
Tea Service Formats to Choose From
The Iced Tea Bar
Perfect for Oklahoma summers and outdoor events. We set up 3 to 5 large-batch iced teas with a garnish station:
- Classic Southern sweet tea (non-negotiable in Oklahoma)
- Peach hibiscus iced tea
- Lavender Earl Grey with honey
- Cucumber green tea with mint
- Berry rooibos, a caffeine-free option
The garnish station holds fresh fruit slices, herb sprigs, honey sticks, and sugar cane stirrers. Your guests customize their own glass, which is interactive without being fussy.
The Hot Tea Station
Ideal for fall and winter events, afternoon affairs, and seated dinners. We offer 4 to 6 premium loose-leaf teas with proper service:
- Individual teapots or communal pots at each table
- A tea timer, because over-steeped tea is bad tea
- Proper milk, honey, lemon, and sugar service
- Menu cards explaining each tea's origin and flavor
The Tea Cocktail and Mocktail Hybrid
Here tea becomes a drink ingredient rather than a standalone, where our bartending blends with the tea program:
- Jasmine tea gin and tonic (for your cocktail bar)
- Chai-spiced mocktail with honey and oat milk (for your zero-proof bar)
- Matcha highball with yuzu and sparkling water
- Earl Grey lemonade fizz
The High Tea Experience
For bridal showers, baby showers, and luncheons, we offer a full High Tea experience: a curated tea menu paired with finger sandwiches, scones, and petit fours. We provide the tea service, and you provide the food or we help you coordinate it.
This format is having a real moment again, partly thanks to that Bridgerton-era look and partly because so many of us love the idea of an unhurried, shared meal in a world that is usually grab-and-go.
Tea Pairing 101
- Brunch: Earl Grey, English breakfast, green tea. Classic and energizing, lovely with eggs and pastries.
- Afternoon: jasmine, oolong, white tea. Lighter and more aromatic, so they do not compete with the conversation.
- Dessert course: chamomile, rooibos, peppermint. Naturally sweet, caffeine-free, and a gentle signal that the evening is winding down.
- Late night: decaf chai with honey, warm rooibos with vanilla. Cozy, with no caffeine to keep your guests up.
What It Costs You
A tea station for 100 guests runs roughly $150 to $300 in ingredients (premium loose-leaf, not bags). That is a gentle add-on next to a full bar, where the alcohol you buy for 100 guests typically runs about $500 to $600 (roughly $5 to $6 per guest) once our shopping guide keeps you from overbuying. Tea is not a replacement for your bar. It is a complement that takes care of the guests your bar cannot reach, and it adds a touch of polish at a friendly price.
Tea is an optional add-on we can build into any Scissortail package, so it becomes part of your plan from the start rather than an afterthought.
Understated, Unforgettable
"We are here to take care of our guests and give them the best service we can," says Bar-Key founder Patrick Wilson. Tea service at your event makes a quiet statement: you thought about everyone. The guest who does not drink coffee, the guest who does not drink alcohol, the guest who just wants something warm in their hands. A well-run tea program tells all of them that you planned for them too.
