Event Drink Trends for 2026: What Your Guests Are Loving Right Now
Drink trends move in cycles. Some are here to stay (the espresso martini is not going anywhere). Some are at their peak (the aperol spritz had its big moment). And some are just getting going. Here is what we are seeing across hundreds of events, so you can plan a menu that feels fresh for your party.
On the Rise: Worth Featuring at Your Event
Dirty Sodas
This is the drink everyone is talking about right now. What started as a Utah drive-through favorite has grown into a full event category. We have seen requests for dirty soda stations grow 5x since 2024. Your guests love them because they are customizable, fun, naturally zero-proof, and ready for a photo.
Zero-Proof Everything
This goes beyond mocktails to full zero-proof bars. Non-alcoholic spirits (Lyre's, Seedlip, Monday), non-alcoholic beer (Athletic Brewing, Partake), and dealcoholized wine are all showing up at events right next to their alcoholic versions. If you have a mix of drinkers and non-drinkers on your list, this keeps everyone happy.
Coffee as a Cocktail
The espresso martini opened the door, and now coffee is a full ingredient family: cold brew old fashioneds, espresso tonics, matcha drinks, chai-spiced creations. A coffee bar is becoming a feature your guests gather around, not just a post-dinner add-on.
Interactive Stations
Your guests want to take part, not just be handed a drink. Build-your-own dirty soda bars, guided cocktail-making stations, and infused water bars are all growing. The act of making the drink becomes part of the fun at your event.
At Their Peak: Still Loved, Now Familiar
Espresso Martini
Still the most-requested cocktail we see. It has held the top spot for three years, though, so plenty of guests have had it many times over. Keep it on your menu, but you may want a newer drink to be your headliner.
Aperol Spritz
It had a huge run from 2019 to 2024, and your guests still order it. The spritz family is evolving toward elderflower and prosecco versions with different amari, but the classic Aperol version has settled into familiar territory.
Ranch Water
It has been big across Texas and Oklahoma for three years, and it is still a favorite at outdoor and game day gatherings. The novelty has worn off, though, so it works best as a reliable menu option rather than your signature drink.
On the Way Out: Skip These at Your Event
Over-the-Top Garnishes
The "pile a whole cheese board on the Bloody Mary" look is giving way to cleaner presentation. One perfect garnish makes a better impression on your guests than a circus act.
The Default Vodka Soda
The "I'll just have a vodka soda" habit is fading. Your guests are more adventurous now and happy to try something new. People will still order one, but it is no longer the safe fallback when they are not sure what to pick.
Single-Spirit Bars
A bar built around just one spirit (only tequila, only whiskey) feels limiting to today's guests. Even at a themed event, offering at least two or three spirit options plus a zero-proof choice is what people now expect.
Where Things Are Heading in 2027
The next wave is personalization. Smart drink recommendations (we are already building this), customizable flavor stations, and menus shaped around your guests' actual preferences instead of one-size-fits-all. Your event bar is starting to feel less like a restaurant counter and more like a concierge made just for you.
Scissortail is built for that shift. Our zero-proof focus, dirty soda know-how, and interactive stations put your event right where everyone is heading.
Why We Built It This Way
"We built the brand to meet people where they actually are today," says Bar-Key founder Patrick Wilson. "Alcohol is trending down, mocktails are up." The 2026 trends line up with what we built for you: interactive drink stations, drinks for everyone, and an experience that puts your guests first.
We created Scissortail for this exact moment, devoted to giving your non-drinking guests a beverage experience just as good as anyone else's.
